Just a little rundown on the WHAL BROS CHALLENGE. and the DAVID JOHNSON MINE SERIES in Strachcona on Jan 3rd. Weather wass major facter in low driver turnout on Sat. morning, weather forcast for no travel and closed roads. total whiteout at about 10:00 for about a half an hr. then became a beautifull day with 112 entrees so could have been a lot worse.

Dec 29th 2008

4th race of season comming up on the 3rd of Jan. whitch is the Legendary WHAL BROS CHALLENG AND THE DAVID JOHNSON SERIES at the Strachcona race park. Track will be watered again tomorrow and all pit and spectater parking is plowed and draged. Sounds like a good turnout comming. Fast sleds comming by phone calls. Hope to see you all and wish you luck. Armand

Dec 21st 2008

3rd race of season was in Strathcona on the 20th of Dec. Very low turn out hopefully because of bad weather. Was a fine small race but felt bad for the drivers that came from the Cities and the Iron Range to race. Shane Wahl came out of hibernation to test the new SnoPro sled he built for Little Man but was no challenge for Jumping Johnny Shumachers POLARIS 340 SnoPro leafer.

Our 4th scheduled race of the year for Dec 27th has been cancelled so the next race will be the WAHL BROS. CHALLENGE on Jan. 3rd in Strachcona. All indications are that it will be a good one.with a professional photographer's as well as Turn Cam 2. Hope to see you all. Armand

Rock Rapids went extreemly well and as far as I know everyone was happy, which was our second race of season, stormy weather and all.

Dec 8th 2008

Just got word ROCK RAPIDS RACE track is flooded and looking good all things look fine, she's a go.

Our first race of the season was cold, the sundogs where everywere

We had a small turn out but it was a fantactic day!!

We had a lot of new and first time drivers.

It was a great way for them to start the race season.....nice and relaxed.

Thanks to all who came out to support our first race and see you in Rock Rapids!

Hi all racers,

Looks like a very promising year judged by the calls of new first time drivers that have called this year.

This season SLEDS RACING will not be participating the HETEEN CUP so we are dedicating the Race Season to my dear friend EDGAR HETEEN and DAVID JOHNSON.

History

Edgar and David Johnson, brother-inlaws, started Heteen Hoist and Derick and eventually changed the name to POLARIS INDUSTRY. They were a couple of farm boys, that had a 8th grade or less education, with a desire to be self employed and build anything to make it easyier for ther fellow man. I imagine Edgar was #1 in command with David #2, David managed the shop and when Edgar was away on bussines which was quiet often, David would manage the business. They would build any thing for anybody that came to them with a request to build. Some equipment that they built in there Heteen early days were hoists with long booms that they mounted on trailers and trucks for the Rural Electric Cooperative to put up REA poles when electric power was introduced to this area, crop sprayers, steam cleaners,4 wheeldrive swamp buggys with tractor tires that would float in water and go just about anywhere, 2 wheel drive scooters with tractor lug tires, grain augers, bug zappers, grain cleaners, straw choppers for International Harvester and Mineapolis Moline to name a few.

Edgar and David together started Heteen Hoist and Derick, one time when Edgar was away on a business trip David pursued building a dream machine, which was the creation of and the first Snow Machine ever built buy them. David had it completed when Edgar got back even though he new Edgar would not approve, because they were so hard up they had to give out (IOU)s for paychecks as they could not allways make payroll on time. Davids thoughts were what could Edgar do if it was already built? Well he soon found out, when Edgar got back he blew a gasket, could not figure out if his brother in law had lost his mind. The snomachine was sold, brought in some badly needed cash. More were built, each one improved and sold, and Edgar became a believer.......the rest is history.

One thing I hope is that everyone who enjoys Arctic Cats and Polaris appreciates Edgar and especialy David for building the first Snowmachine and there efforts and contribution to our recreational activities

DAVID JOHNSON MINI SERIES

SLEDS RACING is dedicating this whole season to Edgar and Special recognition to David, who may be little known for his contributions compared to Edgar, by having a (DAVID JOHNSON MINI SERIES) at the 5 races in Strathcona this year. There will be a membership fee for those who wish to run for points in this SERIES for trophys and prizes.

Year End Points

Year End Trophys will be awarded to the top 3 places in each class run ****no member ship fees*****

The points accumilated for year end will be at these races only:
